Papanasam Ashok Ramani

An accomplished Carnatic Vocal musician for over 20 years, and grandson of Tamil composer Brahmashri Papanasam Siva, he commenced music training at a very young age with his mother Dr. Rukmini Ramani (daughter of Papanasam Sivan). Subsequently was under the tutelage of Dr. S. Ramanathan. Sro Ashok Ramani learnt from Calcutta K.S. Krishnamurthy & Bombay Ramachandran. He is a disciple of Palghat K.V. Narayanaswamy for over 17 years.

Sri Ashok Ramani has performed in all major Sabhas all over India and abroad. His performances in Singapore, Malaysia, Mauritius and at the Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival at Cleveland, Ohio were well received by rasikas.

Apart from concerts, Sri Ashok Ramani also specialises in lecture demonstrations and has provided many such lectures in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia & United States. Sri Ashok Ramani has also performed in many European countries such as Germany, France, Switzerland and London.

He has been conferred the title of "ISAI PAEROLI" by Karthik Fine Arts and also has the distinction of having won the "Youth Excellence Award" by Maharajapuram Vishwanatha Iyer Trust in 1998. His other awards include "IsaiBharathi" and "Yuva Kala Bharathi".

Dr. Nithyasree Mahadevan

Dr. Nithyasree has been performing from 1967 onwards and has performed in almost all the Major sabbas in India. She has also given performances in countries like USA Canada, United kingdom, Australia, Middle East Singapore, Malaysia, France, Switzerland Germany, Belgium, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Tanzania etc.

There are more than 750 albums to her credit on various themes and titles which are very popular among rasikas. She has been a “Top Rank Artiste" from AIR Chennai.

She has been a member in the panel of Expert Committee in the IYAL ISAI NATAKA MANDRAM, appointed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Dr. Nithyasree won great acclaim by giving concert named "BHAIRAVI" with kirthanas only in ragam Bhairavi for 3 hours starting from Varnam to Mangalam. She also submitted a paper on the life and contribution of Shri Gopala Krishna Bharathi for PSG College and participated in many Lec Dems, seminars and Workshops on Carnatic Music.

Dr. Nithyasree is also involved in the project initiated by Aanmajothi for promoting Carnatic music among the Children studying in Corporation schools. She has performed for 'Sangeeth Natak Academy' in their prestigious Music festivals held at Hyderabad and Bombay and also participated in world music festivals conducted in France, Germany and also at the Asia Society, New York.

Dr. Nithyasree is Presently an honorary member of ICCR. She has lent her voice in the silver screen and her maiden song "kannoadu kaanbadellam” composed by the one and only AR Rahman fetched her many awards including the Tamil Nadu State Award in the year 1999. Has sung more than 500 film songs including Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, Her TV title songs also need a special mention.

Triveni Sangamam, a programme with live orchestra comprising of songs sung by the legendary musicians MS Subbulakshmi, DK.Pattammal, M.L.Vasanthakumari won her great accolades.


Honours:

Dr. Nithyasree was awarded an honorary Doctorate in the year 2008 by The Sathyabama Autonomous University for her contribution to the field of Music.
